Through approved organizations such as the American Counseling Association, the American Mental Health Association and Pesi I have taken a number of workshops on LGBTQ matters. In 2016 I attended the GEI Foundations course through WPATH and received 20.5 credit hours and in 2017 I attended the WPATH/GEI Foundations Training Course, Advanced Training Course. The workshops I attended were designed for mental health professionals. I am a member of WPATH, am familiar with the Standards of Care that is currently being used and am working towards certification through this organization. In April,2017 I also attended the Time to Thrive conference sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign, American Counseling Association and the National Education Association. This conference offered workshops for those working with the LGBTQ population as well as presenters who talked about the difficulties they have and continue to have as members of said population.
