I am a psychotherapist with a private practice in Midtown, Sacramento, California. I have been practicing as a licensed clinician for over 14 years, and more generally as a social worker for over 23 years, conducting education, research, and clinical work. I work with people living with chronic health and mental health conditions, with those struggling with their identity and making meaning in life, and with adults having un-/expected challenges in relationships, work, and beyond.
In addition to private practice, I hold a PhD in Social Welfare and am an Assistant Professor of Social Work. I conduct and publish critical health research, and I am a clinical supervisor and consultant for license-seeking and seasoned professionals. Prior to private practice, I have worked in both in- & out-patient medical/psychiatric settings as well as community-based organizations, all of which focused on trauma, mental health, substance use, and chronic health conditions, including HIV/AIDS.
I serve as a Councilor on the Council on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity & Expression (CSOGIE) with the Council on Social Work Education, and I conduct clinical and cultural responsive and competence trainings throughout the region and State of California. Alongside my professional work, it is important to know that I am not a robot. I am Queer, genderqueer, and gay man, who is engaged in co-parenting. Also, I am an engaged citizen committed to promoting social justice, to reducing health disparities and social inequities, and to engaging in practices that increase community wellbeing.
