I am an ally, a mother of an adult trans son and also an LGBTQ+Affirming therapist. I began working with the LGBTQ+ community before my son came out in college and I’ve always been grateful that I had this gift of experience which helped me know and support my son when he came out. I began working with the LGB community in an internship in 1994 at the San Diego LBGT Center, then later in a group practice I had the fortune to work with youth and young adults who identify as a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Since 2016 I have completed six trainings related to working with trans and nonbinary adults and youth. I attended the Gender Odyssey conference in 2019 and the Trans Youth Symposium in 2019 and 2022. I have been a member of WPATH since 2019. I have written letters in support of gender affirming surgeries for my ongoing clients who have sought surgery as a part of their transition.
Currently, 50% of my private practice clients are part of the LGBTQ+ community or a loved one of a community member.
