I am the regional Dean for the IU School of Medicine Bloomington campus. In partnership with the Kinsey institute, our campus hosts the Human Sexuality and Health Scholarly Concentration, an elective program medical students can enroll in to gain experience researching and studying LGBTQ+ issues. My students have a keen interest in LGBTQ+ informed care, and are in the beginning planning stages of a Student Outreach Clinic which will enable them to interact with and better serve our LGBTQ+ population in the region. Prior to my role with the IU School of Medicine, I was the Director for Undergraduate Medical Education at the University of Arizona. During my time there, I was able to mentor an Emergency Medicine resident in the creation of a curriculum around trans care in the ED, a topic notably missing in all the national materials that support EM training. I frequently attend CME events around LGBTQ+ issues, and am passionate about bringing what I learn back in teaching my students, as well as my physician peers.
