Lauren Roth, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an Attending Physician in the Division of Academic General Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Roth provides pediatric primary care at the Comprehensive Family Care Center (CFCC). She has expertise in LGBTQ+ health education and teaches medical students, residents, and faculty about best practices in inclusive and affirming care for LGBTQ+ children and adolescents. Dr. Roth is a general pediatrician who also provides gender affirming care, including consultations, puberty suppression, hormone therapy, and referrals for mental health support or surgery.
Dr. Roth received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University. She attended medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. She completed her residency in pediatrics at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and was awarded the “Super Senior” Resident of the Year Award during her final postgraduate year. Dr. Roth is board certified in pediatrics. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), member of the Academic Pediatric Association (APA), and member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Dr. Roth is the co-chair of the LGBTQ+ Health and Well-Being Special Interest Group of the Academic Pediatric Association. She is the chair of the Trans Youth Working Group at Montefiore, a member of the LGBTQIA+ Health Curriculum Working Group at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on LGBTQ Health and Wellness. Her work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and she has presented locally and nationally about inclusive and affirming care.
On a personal level, Dr. Roth’s brother is transgender. He has had a profound influence on her as a medical provider and on a human level.
