Welcome, my name is Rodney, I am a Nurse Practitioner with dual certification in primary care and mental health. Over the past two decades, my involvement in the LGBTQIA+ community has transitioned from primary care to mental health provision. This privilege has equipped me to comprehend their unique needs and deliver culturally sensitive care. As an individual within the community, I understand the intricate complexity of service expectations. My experience as a healthcare provider spans private and group practices, federally qualified community health systems, jails, academia, and pharmaceutical research in HIV treatment and prevention, including Sustiva, Kaletra, Truvada, Descovy, Biktarvy, and Cabotegravir (I was there). My PhD studies focused on HIV stigma and health-related quality of life among those with HIV/AIDS. I’ve practiced in Atlanta, Palm Springs, and Los Angeles, evolving in three distinct cities and my main practice location is in Los Angeles.
Recently, I’ve dedicated my efforts to offer high-quality, culturally competent, gender and sex identity-neutral care to the LGBTQ+ community, driven by the belief that we deserve it. My intention is to destigmatize mental health and create a safe space for exploring, expressing, questioning, and embracing life choices and opportunities. Currently, Los Angeles is my base, but I offer telepsychiatry services, in addition to California licensure, I am licensed in the States of WA, OR, NV, and NM.
I completed my Nurse Practitioner education and training at Emory University and UCSF. My PhD was earned through the University of Wisconsin system.
