Chester, CT I am a transgender woman and academic librarian living in Connecticut. I began my transition in 2015, and have been living full time as myself since 2017. I have been working with community college students, providing research assistance and teaching information literacy skills, since 2004. I am fortunate to have experienced trans-competent and gender-affirming healthcare at its best, and I firmly believe everyone deserves and has the right to expect an equally high level of care for themselves. I am married with children, and also in a committed relationship with my girlfriend, so I have experience in non-traditional families/relationships. I am an empathetic listener and informal "movable safe space" for queer, neurodiverse, and intentionally nonconformist students. I am an amateur visual artist and musician, a paperback fiction collector, a fountain pen enthusiast, an organized labor supporter, and a sexual trauma survivor. I love to hunt for information, whether for academic, professional, or personal benefit, and to share what I have learned through experience with others, and then step back and give them the spacetime to forge their own path. Qualifications *17+ years experience providing research assistance and teaching information literacy concepts and skills to community college students. *Personal experience with medical and social gender transition, including electrolysis facial hair removal (2015-2020), orchiectomy (2016), HRT (2016-∞), voice feminization training (2015-2017), vaginoplasty (2018), social transition in a professional/academic setting (2015-2017; full-time socially female 2017-∞). *Experience navigating healthcare providers and coverage, including working with the Office of the Healthcare Advocate. *Ongoing personal research in Transgender Studies, Queer Studies, Feminism, Psychology, Social Equity, whatever else captures my fancy. *I've been through it; I know what it's like, or how it can be, and when I don't know, I listen, I search, I find out, I share.
