Hi Fam! I’m Jlynn (she/her/hers). I believe (and science demonstrates) that finding a therapist you click with is an essential part of the therapy process. That’s why I offer a free 20 minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. If you feel connected to, or curious about what I have to say, check out my website where you’ll find a direct link to scheduling a consultation. So, here’s a little about me to give you an idea of who you’d be working with….
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to offering private, affirming, and empowerment-based care for the broader LGBTQIA+ community. Sometimes exploring gender, sexuality, or the experience of discrimination becomes an area of deeper focus in therapy; Sometimes these identities are simply held present as a piece of your story while we explore other unrelated parts of you that need tending to.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and from my lived experience as a queer therapist, I pay close attention to how our different identities and environments have impacted how we experience ourselves and how we are treated by others. I have a relational approach that integrates mind-body modalities such as EMDR, IFS, Emotion-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Therapy. We’ll take time to uncover the root causes of patterns in thoughts, feelings and behaviors that shape how you move through the world. As we process unresolved past experiences, a neurological shift occurs in our brains’ wiring, opening up the possibility of responding, rather than reacting to the situation at hand. From this place, we’ll discover practical ways to respond to challenges for lasting, meaningful change.
Navigating a world that wasn’t built for you is quietly exhausting. When you are constantly managing the anxieties of a heteronormative culture—whether that looks like facing overt discrimination or simply choosing when it is safe to be yourself—it takes a real, measurable toll. LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy exists because you shouldn’t have to unpack that weight alone. It is a space where your identity is validated and celebrated, not just tolerated. Together, we can work to:
• Unlearn internalized cultural shame and harmful beliefs.
• Process the isolation and stress of navigating daily environments.
• Heal from the wounds of past rejection, relational or religious trauma
• Build a grounded sense of self-worth rooted in who you actually are.
Therapy with me is a collaborative partnership to help you move past just surviving, so you can begin living authentically and on your own terms.
If you think we might be a good fit, you can schedule a free phone or video consultation directly from my website at QueerFolxTherapy.com.
