OutReach: Community Building & Support

Join us for a class! We have facilitators to help you stay fit and moving.

OutCare’s OutReach program builds and supports the LGBTQ+ community through engaging and thoughtful sessions led by community members just like you from across the country. These FREE virtual sessions—including mindfulness, meditation, sound bowl healing, trans and nonbinary support groups, and yoga—elevate voices and provide calming environments for the LGBTQ+ community.     Levi Wagner, MA (he/him) is the Youth Housing Case Manager at Damien Center working with youth and young adults ages 18 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. He has almost 20 years of experience in youth work and social services, a master’s degree in Education, and a heart for young people. He has been working with the LGBTQ+ community for most of his career and has a deep passion and knowledge of the Queer community and its history. He leads trainings on LGBTQ+ History, LGBTQ+ Terminology & Intersectionality, and Youth Housing.

Trans & Nonbinary Community Group

Hello Folx! I’m Levi Wagner and I want to build a place where trans and nonbinary folx can be safe to talk about all things life — whether that is related to gender or not! We will talk about family, boundaries, relationships, gender, transitioning, and so much more! I want you to feel comfortable telling me your favorite board games, foods, animals, colors, and anything else you want to share. Or you can come and just enjoy being in a space with other trans & nonbinary folx — observation is still participation! Each meeting we will introduce ourselves, have an ice breaker activity, and then talk about a topic that matters in our lives. Come as you are — with questions, challenges, joys, and anything else and be encouraged in your authenticity!

    Jay is a licensed professional clinical counselor who focuses on supporting LGBTQ+  individuals healing from trauma.  He is an EMDRIA certified therapist and approved consultant and his areas of experience include residential treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, outpatient mental health care, and private practice. He has a certificate in Addiction Counseling and formerly worked as a licensed alcohol and drug counselor.  Away from work he enjoys rock climbing, brewing coffee by various means, and reading outside in the sunshine.

Mindfulness Moments

Join me for an hour of trauma-informed mindfulness where we will slow down, breathe, listen, and feel.  Together we will increase our body awareness and calm our nervous system through breathing exercises, guided meditation, and journaling.  Bring a cozy beverage, journal and pen, and any objects that bring you comfort (such as a blanket, fidget, plant, candle, rock, etc.).  All are welcome. No previous meditation experience is required.

    I am a registered nurse with 10 years of experience working in critical care and 5 years in aesthetics! During the span of my career, I saw the imperative need for more resources to solutions for self-care and mental health awareness. I am certified in facilitating sound healing, breathwork, and reiki. I am a free spirit with an adventurous soul and love to read and collect stamps for my passport!

Sound Bowl Healing

Hi Friends! My name is Chelsea and I will be guiding you through a meditative sound journey for the duration of our time together. This is a time dedicated just for you, so make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing, preferably in a quiet space where you feel safe to fully relax. This practice is best utilized with earbuds but is not necessary. You can either be sitting or lying down position for this practice, whatever is most comfortable for you. I will be leading you through a guided meditation while infusing you with healing frequencies from crystal singing bowls and other magical instruments. This experience will be a massage for your mind and have you feeling refreshed, relaxed, and reset by the end of our session.

    hello fellow embodied beings of light and love! i am sydney johnson, a lover of everything and everyone (including, but not limited to: corgis, yoga, poetry, painting, piano, and the number 2). during our sacred time together, i will be leading us through a restorative yoga flow where we will hold the poses for 5-10 minutes to allow our bodies to enter ~restoration and repair~ mode. feeling like the embodiment of peace, we will devote the last portion of class to a free write/draw in which i will offer some prompts OR you can follow your inner muse! all you will need for this class is a comfy place to practice (yoga mat with a blanket on top, comfy carpet, etc), a bolster or a nice firm pillow, an extra blanket, a journal/paper to write/draw on, and any other comfortable props you may want (a cup of tea, a candle, incense, your furry friend, comfy socks, whatever your body needs, right here and now <3). 

Restorative Yoga + Art/Journaling

    I am a general dentist and yoga teacher in Houston, Texas. I work at a public health center that predominantly focuses on serving the LGBTQ population and other underserved communities. I'm able to combine my two passions by bringing mindfulness and meditative techniques to my patients during difficult or intimidating dental procedures. My core values include serving underserved populations while also creating awareness of the benefits of yoga for health care professionals. 

All-level Vinyasa Yoga

My name is Alex Barrera, and I am a dentist and a yoga teacher. I’ll be guiding us through an all-level vinyasa yoga flow during our time together. This full-body class will start gentle and soft but will get you sweating as we dive into the flow. My flows focus on strengthening parts of the body that are often underutilized so that we can live pain-free and function comfortably throughout our daily lives. We close the practice with slow, deep stretching that will open up parts of the body that allow us to feel our best. My flows are sultry and passionate, so I invite you to set the mood by lighting a candle, wearing cozy clothing, and setting up your yoga mat somewhere quiet and dim, free from distractions.
