Hi, I’m Brenda Sanchez! I’m a bilingual (English/Spanish) Associate Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from Loma Linda University, specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, and trauma-informed care.
As a Latina, first-generation immigrant, single mother, and nontraditional student, my personal journey has deeply shaped how I approach mental health. It took me nine years to complete my undergraduate degree while balancing work, night school, and motherhood. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of resilience, cultural expectations, systemic barriers, and the importance of having a safe space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported.
My clinical background includes working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and major life transitions. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, play-based interventions, and strengths-based, person-centered approaches to meet each client where they are.
LGBTQ+ affirming care is an essential part of my practice. I am passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, including those exploring their sexual orientation or gender identity, navigating coming out, experiencing family or cultural expectations, or seeking greater self-acceptance. I recognize the impact that discrimination, rejection, minority stress, and systemic barriers can have on emotional well-being. My goal is to provide a compassionate, culturally responsive, and judgment-free environment where clients can explore their identities without pressure to change who they are.
I am especially passionate about working with college students, first-generation students, working parents, and individuals navigating the intersection of culture, identity, relationships, and personal growth. I believe therapy should be collaborative, empowering, and grounded in respect for each person’s lived experiences.
My philosophy of mental health goes beyond managing symptoms. I believe healing is about embracing our authentic selves, breaking unhealthy patterns, overcoming barriers, and challenging the stigmas that hold us back. Everyone deserves the opportunity to find their voice, rewrite their story, and create a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling.
Outside of my work, I enjoy dancing, traveling, sports, and learning new things. One of my favorite reminders is “Mañana Será Bonito” — “Tomorrow Will Be Beautiful.” It reflects the hope I bring into my work: even during life’s most challenging moments, growth, healing, and new beginnings are possible.
