I am Michael Williamson, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Georgia and an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist committed to helping individuals and couples build more connected and meaningful lives. As a gay man, I bring both professional training and a personal understanding of the complexities of belonging, relationships, and navigating a world that does not always affirm who we are. I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where LGBTQ+ individuals and couples can explore their experiences, process shame or stigma, strengthen relationships, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves. My approach integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method principles, narrative therapy, and client-centered practices. I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mercer University in 2018, graduating with honors, and have been practicing since then. My clinical interests include LGBTQ+ mental health, relationship challenges, identity development, burnout, life transitions, and the impact of family, cultural, and societal expectations on well-being. I am particularly interested in helping people move beyond the pressure to meet external expectations and toward lives and relationships grounded in their own values. I also have a strong interest in Ecopsychology and the connections between personal well-being, our relationships, and the environments in which we live. I believe therapy is not about becoming a perfected version of yourself, but about developing the freedom to be more fully who you are. I offer virtual therapy to individuals and couples throughout Georgia, with an emphasis on collaboration and meaningful growth.
