As a mental and behavioral health professional with over 25 years of experience, I have worked with many LGBTQ+individuals. Before Columbus Stonewall had a program to support the trans community, I was counseling trans individuals who had no real place to assist them in finding their self-esteem, peer support, help with self harm ideation/behaviors; discrimination and social/familial alienation, as well as compassionate and affirming care, locally. Before Equitas was an option for the trans population in Columbus, I was acutely aware of the underserved segment of the LGBQ not yet T+community. As for trainings-too many to list and ongoing, perhaps paralleling the plethora of sexual identities and orientations on an ever emerging continuum.
