Overview
Welcome to the LGBTQ+ Affirming Fertility Care Certification. This training equips fertility professionals with the knowledge, language, and practical tools needed to support LGBTQ+ intended parents across the family-building journey. Developed by OutCare Health in partnership with GWK Academy and led by transgender fertility educator Trystan Reese, this certification focuses on real-world application, from trauma-informed care to inclusive communication and systems-level change. Participants will explore the unique experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals navigating fertility and family-building, including barriers related to insurance, cost, stigma, and prior medical experiences. The training provides actionable strategies to build trust, improve engagement, and deliver affirming, evidence-informed support across a wide range of professional settings. It also introduces key considerations in transgender family-building pathways and evolving practices, helping participants navigate both established and emerging approaches in the field.
Benefits
Certification is awarded at the organizational level. Once all designated staff within an organization complete the LGBTQ+ Affirming Fertility Care Certification, participants receive a GWK Academy / OutCare Certification badge recognizing their collective commitment to affirming, fertility-specific care. Individual team members will also receive certificates of completion as part of a fully-certified organization. Through this process, participants strengthen their ability to deliver affirming, person-centered care, improve communication with LGBTQ+ intended parents, and align their practices with evolving expectations for inclusive fertility services. Certification also supports enhanced trust, improved experiences, and increased visibility as part of a growing network of organizations committed to affirming family-building care.
