Erin Parish-Gibson is a certified nurse midwife and advanced practice registered nurse specializing in gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy. Her other clinical interests include contraception and birth control, sexual health, sexually transmitted infections, and preconception/fertility counseling.

“I believe that the person in the body is the expert on the body,” Erin says. “My role is to guide and educate each patient so they can be their happiest, healthiest self — whatever that looks like for the individual. Trauma-informed care is incredibly important to me. I strive to be open, affirming, and body-positive for all people.”

A native of West Virginia, Erin earned an associate of science in nursing from Allegany College of Maryland and worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery for 14 years. After earning a master of science in nursing (MSN) from Frontier Nursing University, she served as a full-scope nurse midwife in a variety of settings. Ultimately she fell in love with gender-affirming care and chose to focus on this area of reproductive health. She joined UVA Health in 2022.
