I’m a queer/lesbian, LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) in Colorado. I provide relational, trauma-informed therapy for adults and teens navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, difficult family relationships, identity, religious trauma and shame, and recovery.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, affirming, and grounded in the belief that people are the experts on their own lives. Rather than approaching therapy as something being “done to” a client, I work alongside clients to better understand their experiences, reconnect with their own intuition and values, and develop ways of responding to life that feel more authentic and sustainable.
As a queer therapist, I understand the importance of receiving care where LGBTQ+ identities are not treated as problems to solve or topics that require explanation. I provide affirming care to LGBTQIA+ clients across a range of identities and experiences, including clients exploring sexual orientation or gender identity, navigating coming out, relationships, family dynamics or rejection, religious trauma, shame, minority stress, and the impact of living within systems that have not always affirmed who they are. LGBTQ+ clients are also welcome to come to therapy for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with being LGBTQ+.
My clinical work is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing from person-centered and relational therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, compassion-focused therapy, existential therapy, and harm reduction. I aim to practice from a culturally responsive, anti-oppressive perspective that recognizes the ways identity, relationships, community, culture, and larger systems can shape mental health and access to care.
I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University through a CACREP-accredited program. I continue to pursue professional education in trauma-informed care and other areas relevant to the communities I serve.
I also have a particular interest in grief and pet loss, including the often-overlooked experiences of anticipatory grief, caregiving, euthanasia-related guilt, and the loss of companion animals. I facilitate pet loss grief support and incorporate an understanding of the human-animal bond into my clinical work. I am also interested in canine-integrated and animal-assisted approaches to therapy.
Above all, I want therapy to be a place where clients can show up as themselves. You do not need to make yourself more palatable, have the right words for what you’re experiencing, or know exactly what you want from therapy before you begin. We can figure that out together.
