An Advanced Practice Nurse who graduated from the FNP tract at UAB, I am trained to treat male and female patients at all ages across the lifespan. I have worked in both an urgent care setting and as an endocrinology NP where my focus was treating diabetes and obesity for patients aged 6 and up. I have created my own clinic, Drive Right, designed to focus on the care of commercial drivers. I am a nationally registered medical examiner for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration who can perform DOT physicals and issue medical cards to CMV drivers. I also offer primary care services at my clinic with a focus on weight management. I became a healthcare provider to consider a patient’s perspective when formulating an assessment, then partnering with them to execute the best possible health outcome. While I must practice beneficence, I try to give my patients’ treatment options, putting them in charge. It is amazing how much better adherence and outcomes are when they are empowered to be their own medical advocate. There is so much in life we cannot control; it leaves us feeling powerless. Giving people even the slightest authority over their health boosts confidence and allows them to approach their medical condition at their best.
