In addition to holding queer and gender non-conforming identities, I am multicultural and social justice oriented from the start of my career as a mental health counselor. This is integral to the work I do. Not only focusing on personal social identities but on shifting the systems and cultures that bear real impacts on the lives of those who identify as not being or centering heteronormative and cisgender experience. These shifts might happen in how we ourselves relate to these systems and cultures, or in creatively exploring the unique paths we are forging for ourselves. I say we, because this is much more than an individual process. Each individual gets to choose the people that supports them and affirms who they are and how they live. Each individual affirms and co-creates a community of support that can be of significant benefit to them and those around them.
