Addressing mental health at any age can be a difficult step to take. Whether this is addressing everyday problems, transitions in life, or family and parenting issues, to depression, anxiety, or trauma, this step to improve your mental health can help to improve your life. This can be even more difficult when you are part of the LGBTQ+ community or are questioning if your own identity. Being part of the LGBTQ+ community has allowed for me to see how it can be difficult to find those who understand or willing to understand, be nonjudgmental, and empathetic. This has led me to the belief that you are the expert of yourself and your story, while I am here to guide and help you through the difficult parts without judgement and with compassion and understanding. I am here to listen, provide support, and help you learn new skills to help you through difficulties and challenges. I believe in allowing individuals to help with leading on this journey to better mental health.
I have 10 years professional work experience in the mental health field. During this time, I have worked with adults, children, adolescents, LGBTQ+, first responders, victims of abuse and trauma, and military and military dependents. I am trained in juvenile forensic counseling, A-CRA (Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), juvenile competency, and adoption related issues. Additionally, I have been trained to work with LGBTQ+ adolescents and adults, particularly those who are questioning their gender and sexual identities. I typically utilize CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) to work with you on making small changes that lead to bigger changes to help with improving your overall mental health, addressing issues and concerns, and reach your personal goals. However, I will utilize other modalities, theories, or therapies when needed to best help meet your needs.
Thank you for taking the time to review my information and wanting to take this journey of improvement and better mental health. Taking the first step can be difficult and takes courage, but this step can be invaluable. I welcome you to take the time to reach out or book a session through my website to start this journey with me.
