I have a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. I have 9 years experience working in community mental health settings with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties. I enjoy working with teens and adult clients using an eclectic approach to address the issues facing them. I believe you are the expert in your experiences, desires, and needs for change, and I’m happy to help you address any barriers in taking your next steps towards aligning more with your authentic self. My sessions involve a needed dose of humor while we explore deeper meanings together.
I identify as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community with past experience growing up in religious environments that tried to dismiss people aligned with orientations outside of “traditional norms”. My gut felt confused and disgusted by this, so I branched out to learn more and ended up developing close, human relationships with many people in the queer community. I believe acceptance and validation of every identity along the gender and sexual orientation spectrum is necessary within communities we live in and in our personal relationships. Non-oppressive work is important to me and I commit to holding this standard in my professional and personal life. In my professional role, I have experience working with gender nonconforming, gender fluid, and questioning folks, as well as individuals who identify as transgender. I have supported teens and young adults navigating their authentic identity through processing in a safe therapeutic space, providing community resources, and providing psychoeducation in relationship/identity types if their has been low-exposure outside of heteronormative messaging. I have also worked with individuals in gay, lesbian, bisexual, and polyamorous or non-monogamous relationships. IF an individual/couple has had a desire to inform family and/or trusted people about their identity journey, I have experience in supporting this process as well.
I use an integrated approach with a systemic lens to inform my work and the way I view problems and solutions. I use narrative, experiential, and person-centered techniques to help clients find their voice to advocate for themselves, set boundaries, find their peace, or express their feelings. Your story has meaning and importance that I would be honored to be part of processing alongside you.
