Jess is a queer, cis woman, and a late-diagnosed ADHDer. Her clinical focus is on providing anti-oppressive and trauma-responsive care to her clients, while honoring issues of and with power, privilege, marginalization, and oppression that may be present for her clients. She incorporates somatic-based and attachment-based therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and person-centered modalities when collaborating with clients. She strives to provide empowerment in both her clinical and supervisory work, and focuses on navigating whatever difficulties or successes you may be experiencing in life. She predominantly works with LGBTQIA+ adults with presenting concerns of ADHD, depression, anxiety, trauma, and interpersonal issues.
Jess is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Board-Approved Supervisor in the state of Maryland, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the District of Columbia, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Approved Supervisor in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. She has a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and a Master’s in Art Therapy Counseling, both from Emporia State University, and is working on her doctorate in Counseling, Counselor Education, and Supervision at the George Washington University.
Throughout her counseling career, Jess has worked with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including helping clients explore their sexual and gender identities, and providing letters of support for gender-affirming care. She also supervises other LGBTQIA+ clinicians, and supports their work with LGBTQIA+ clients. She routinely prioritizes continuing education, highlighting best practices for the LGBTQIA+ community and neurodivergent individuals. Her current dissertation research is focused on the lived experiences of autistic and ADHDers who were socialized female, recognizing disparities in the diagnostic criteria that result in frequent misdiagnosis or late diagnosis.
