I trained in Oregon Health Science University (OHSU) Family Medicine Residency where I had full-scope training including care for LGBTQ+ patients. Directly after residency, I went to work at UK HealthCare in Lexington, KY and was one of the providers for Transform Health. I have since transferred to Clark Clinic in Winchester, KY, where I continue to provide care for LGBTQ+ adult patients. I provide primary and preventive care services, PrEP, and hormone therapy for adults.
I was so lucky to find Dr. Schaffer! She accurately diagnosed my headaches (which had been misdiagnosed or ignored by quite a few other doctors) and prescribed meds that totally changed my life for the better. She is a genuinely caring and very intelligent physician.
I was very nervous about seeking Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy, but Dr. Shaffer immediately put me at ease. She listened to my backstory, expectations, and goals. She then spent a good 30 minutes formulating a treatment plan, as well as informing me about the process and answering my questions. My visit with Dr. Shaffer was the most rewarding of any I have ever had with a medical provider. I feel she genuinely cares about her patients, takes time to listen, and employs contemporary thinking. My only regret in this process is that I did not find Dr. Shaffer sooner.
