As a cisgender, heterosexual, white female, I am very aware of the privilege I hold, particularly as a member of my immediate family is queer with a trans partner. In clinical social work since 2006, I have extensive experience providing LGBTQ+ affirming care. I spent the first 14 years of my career working in oncology social work, which strengthened my belief in the importance of bodily autonomy and self-determination. Since 2020, I have been providing therapy in private practice with a focus on healing from trauma. I utilize my training in EMDR (EMDRIA Certified), CBT, DBT, ACT, and Mindfulness to work with adults (18+) with PTSD, dissociation, anxiety, OCD, depression, chronic suicidal thoughts, codependency and substance use. I enjoy working with survivors of physical, emotional and sexual trauma, childhood neglect, sex trafficking and religious and cultural trauma while they work to redefine life on their terms. I recognize that for many survivors of trauma, particularly in the LGBTQ+ community, there is no greater support than found family. I am also a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist and have a neurodiversity-affirming approach to practice and am neurodivergent myself. Additionally, I have experience writing a successful VA Disability Nexus letter for PTSD secondary to serving under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policies and am happy to engage with LGBTQ+ veterans with military trauma. Overall, I strive to be warm, authentic, welcoming, accepting, and non-judgmental with all clients and find maintaining a sense of humor to be critical. I would love the chance to connect and see if we are a good fit.
