Swedish Family Medicine – First Hill, with satellite clinics at Downtown Family Medicine (a federally qualified health center with King County Public Health) and Swedish Family Medicine – Ballard, is a residency program where our residents, faculty and staff integrated LGBTQI+ healthcare into its training. We have clinicians who identify within the LGBTQI+ community and have a number of allies who are able to provide services ranging from support to manage chronic conditions (high blood pressure, diabetes), initiation and maintenance of hormone therapy for gender diverse patients (primarily adults with the goal to start pubertal blockers and hormones for youth), HIV medicine, obstetrical care for all pregnant patients and access to behavioral health services with our integrated mental health team.

Our clinics are tied closely with Swedish Health Services LGBTQI+ Program supported by a program manager, transgender healthcare navigator and system educator as the medical director of the LGBTQI+ Program works at Swedish Family Medicine – First Hill. Our goal is to provide a space where our LGBTQI+ community and other populations who have had difficulty accessing healthcare can feel comfortable and supported.
