My father, who has passed, was gay although I feel like he felt he was forced into a marriage with my mother because it was 1971 and he could not openly love being himself in his religion at the time. I am also the bio. mother of my daughter who is lesbian and step-mom to my son who is gay, who has now been in a relationship with his partner of almost 2 years, we consider his partner to be part just as much a part of our family as well. I worked to advocate for the Fairness Campaign in the 1990s. It makes me so emotional to think of how different my childhood could have been if my father could have been his true self. My career has since progressed from working with children and adolescents, then on to individual adults and now I am known as a top couples couples counselor in the Louisville, KY and southern Indiana area as I am a Licensed Psychotherapist in both states. During my focus on individuals, I wrote several sexual reassignment a.k.a. gender affirmation letters for transgender individuals as I worked with their medical doctors. While I still work with adult individuals, my current passion is working with all couples inclusive of all of our diversities. Almost forgot to give a shout out to my cousin Chris and his husband Neil. They have been together for over 30 years. If you knew Chris, you would know why I had to say that last sentence like I did. He has been my confidant and my support with growing up in our Catholic family of origin.
