Luis Felipe (He/Him/El) is a first-generation, bilingual, social worker, photographer, entrepreneur, and Afro-Latino gay therapist. Luis was born and raised in Northern Virginia and the Dominican Republic to a mixed-race Dominican and Spanish couple. Luis spent a number of his formative years in the Dominican Republic, which provided him the opportunity to immerse himself in diverse and culturally rich communities. Luis’ multicultural upbringing is the foundation and guiding principles upon which he interprets and navigates through our ever-changing and diverse global communities. Luis uses his multidimensional identities and experiences to better understand not just patients as they are right now, but as a whole, including their past and overlapping spheres of influence.
Luis has over 4+ years of clinical experience in multiple areas, including direct practice, case management, and crisis intervention services in a variety of clinical settings. Luis graduated with his master’s from the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work where he focused on Interpersonal Practice, Mental Health, and co-occurring Mental Health and Substance Use issues. Luis also had the opportunity to complete further training through the Human Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) focusing on substance abuse and the opioid epidemic.
