At NW Sports PT, we seek to mobilize our knowledge to people through means of education and movement, empowering them to find inner peace in the midst of stress and courage in the midst of fear in order to return to activity. Education regarding nutrition, lifestyle choices and movement as relates to healing and wellness will be discussed throughout the patient’s time with us.
Micah utilizes a specialized holistic approach combining the knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and the autonomic nervous system to treat and educate our patients through their struggles/impairments on their journey through various pelvic impairments/conditions…for all genders and ages. Micah is a gender affirming provider and a fierce LGBTQ+ ally. Micah performs a comprehensive evaluation, including biological, psychological and social history. Micah combines pain neuroscience education, relaxation/self-coping skills, mindfulness and meditation, abdominal diaphragmatic breathing, pelvic floor training, manual therapy and various types of therapeutic exercise, which we design as patient specific, to improve therapeutic alliance and engagement with exercises both at the clinic and at home. We apply a trauma informed therapy approach, and the degree of manual therapy is dependent on the patient’s preferences. Our goal is to calm any sympathetic nervous system response and empower the patient to do so as well in their own maintenance of their symptoms. Developing patience and compassion toward symptoms can help reduce pain, symptoms, and duration. Micah is also a sexual counselor and sex educator credentialed through the University of Michigan School of Social Work.
