Clients often come to my practice sharing that they never felt heard because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic background, or immigration status. In my practice, I believe in the values of social justice and inclusion. Each individual deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, and to have their voice be heard. I accept my clients for their whole identity, and my practice is centered on your expert experience in living your own life and your personal goals. As someone who identifies as a cisgender gay man, I have a personal connection and understanding of life in the queer community. However, given my experience as one part of the queer experience, I also recognize that my experience is not representative of the whole community. I have dedicated much of my personal and professional experience to continuous learning and growth in support of the LGBTQIA and BIPOC community.
In my practice, I help people living with borderline and other personality disorders, frequent relationship conflicts, and LGBTQIA life experiences. The people who I work with have often tried other therapies such as traditional supportive therapy or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). While many find that with these therapies, they gained some helpful skills, it just wasn’t enough to change their internal turmoil. Instead, I tailor my experience to the needs of each client to support in reaching their mental health goals.
