Hi everyone! My name is Robert Lae Wild. I’m a licensed clinical social worker offering individual and group psychotherapy in English, Spanish, and Portuguese Massachusetts and Oklahoma via telehealth. I have been in practice for 5 years now. My primary area of treatment is PTSD and other trauma related problems and difficulties with adjustment, and the emotional, interpersonal, and physical issues that arise from them. My work has primarily been with the LGBTQ community and immigrants and refugees, but I am open to working with client’s from any background working toward recovery and aim to always center my client’s cultural and material realities.
I take an eclectic approach to trauma treatment incorporating various evidenced based and culturally responsive therapeutic approaches that aim to walk trauma survivors through the three phases of traumatic recovery: reestablishing safety and stability, remembrance and mourning, and reconnecting and integration. Some modalities I have been trained in and incorporate into my work are: Liberation Health Social Work, Narrative Therapy, Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Behavioral Therapies. I take evidenced based practice very seriously and stay on top of the most recent research in trauma and mental health treatment. I also engage in regular group supervisions and maintain membership in the National Association of Social Workers, the Society of Refugee Healthcare Providers, and other local organizations and provider groups.
I view my work as a social worker and my treatment approach as an extension of my dedication to furthering social justice and equality for all people. My spiritual and political worldviews that all things are deeply connected and that all of our liberations are bound together inform my belief that to support another’s healing is to support my own healing and communal healing. I am guided by values of antihierarchy, mutual aid, community, restorative justice, self determination, and voluntary cooperation. I believe that all trauma is about power and control and inherently political. To that end, I aim to create a therapeutic space guided by these values where my client and myself can be equals working towards their healing. I also acknowledge inherent power imbalances that exist in a therapeutic relationship due to legal and ethical requirements of mandated reporting, and use an enhanced informed consent model to guarantee my clients are able to fully engage in voluntary cooperation through every stage of treatment from planning to termination.
