Juan Carlos Venis, MPH, MD
Medical Director for Primary Care, Damien Center
Dr. Venis is a bilingual (Spanish, English) family physician and Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Medicine specializing in LGBTQ+ primary care. In 2022, Dr. Venis joined Damien Center, Indiana’s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS Service Organization as Medical Director for Primary Care. In his current role at Damien Center, Dr. Venis is leading efforts to expand primary care and gender-affirming care offerings while continuing to center comprehensive HIV and HCV treatment and prevention. Dr. Venis will serve as the 2023-2024 President of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians and is an appointed member of the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Commission on Health of the Public and Science. In his free time, Dr. Venis enjoys traveling, new foods, music, fitness, recreational sports, and spending time with his husband and their two dogs.
