Are you feeling stuck—overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship challenges? Are you seeking therapy to explore your gender, sexual identity, or LGBTQIA+ experiences? In a world that values productivity over presence, it’s easy to lose touch with your needs. I’m Mark Mineo, LCSW, a queer psychotherapist and founder of Sunflower Psychotherapy in New York City. I received my clinical training at Columbia University and have advanced training through the Parnell Institute, Trauma Research Foundation, and the William Alanson White Institute.
My approach is warm, relational, trauma-informed, and body-based. I draw on evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and neurobiological therapies to help you reconnect with your inner world and innate capacity to heal. In couples therapy, I gently support partners in understanding the protective patterns beneath conflict and guide them toward compassion, repair, and deeper emotional connection.
In our work, I invite you to notice how your body communicates—through sensation, emotion, memory, thought, or impulse. By cultivating somatic awareness and nervous system regulation, we build self-compassion and support your body’s natural capacity to heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, and chronic stress.
Think of me as a collaborative partner through life’s challenges, including burnout, identity exploration, relationship stress, and major life transitions. Together, we’ll access your innate wisdom—the calm, confident, and compassionate core within you—supporting greater flexibility, resilience, and empowered choice. Let’s explore what becomes possible together.
