Dr. Michael Harley Cruz, PT, DPT (preferred name Harley and they/he pronouns) is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy from Dallas, TX and now living in Seattle, WA. Harley has been a practicing licensed physical therapist since 2017, has done travel physical therapy, and holds active physical therapy licenses in Texas, California, and Washington. They have worked in various physical therapy settings (primarily in outpatient orthopedics) treating patients from pediatrics to geriatrics with a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, including but not limited to neck and back pain, muscle tear/strain, pre- and post-operative total joint replacement and arthroplasty, spinal disc herniations and fusions, postural correction and stabilization, athletic and sport rehabilitation and conditioning, scoliosis, ACL and meniscus tears/repairs, rotator cuff pathology, ankle sprains, sciatica, elbow/wrist/hand pain, and even supportive sleep positioning, breathing dysfunction, shoe and bike fittings, workplace ergonomics, and neurological conditions (e.g., stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, balance/gait instability). Harley also has a background as a yoga instructor (E-RYT 200 Yoga Alliance certified), meditation guide, and breathwork coach and has led specialized workshops for inversions and handstand instruction, rock climbing techniques for injury prevention, activity sustainability in sports and other active hobbies, and even sound bath meditations, goal setting and manifestation, and mentorship/clinical instruction.
Harley identifies as genderqueer and has provided physical therapy services to a very diverse patient population. They are an out and proud Doctor of Physical Therapy who believes in accessibility to healthcare services for the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities and have attended LGBTQ+ diversity, equity, and inclusion seminars and lectures at APTA (American Physical Therapy Association) conferences in order to better serve the LGBTQ+ community. Harley is a strong believer in intersectionality and welcomes all patients of various sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions into the physical therapy clinic.
