In this training, participants will learn about:
- Insurance Basics for Gender Affirming Care: Understand different insurance plans in California (PPO, HMO, Medi-Cal) and their specific requirements for accessing gender affirming care, empowering you to navigate your or your patients’ insurance with confidence.
- Medi-Cal Expansion and Its Impact: Learn about the recent expansion of Medi-Cal and its significant implications for undocumented individuals and those previously ineligible due to age or immigration status, emphasizing the expanded access to gender affirming care for all Californians.
- Navigating Referrals for Gender Affirming Care: Gain insights on how to obtain necessary referrals from primary care physicians for gender affirming treatments, including hormone therapy and surgeries, under various insurance plans.
- Utilizing OutCare Health Resources: Discover how to leverage OutCare Health’s comprehensive resources, including the OutList provider directory and health equity training, to support your gender affirming care journey or enhance your capacity to provide affirming care to others.

Medium/Method of Participation
The activity consists of an on-demand video course without assessments. Participants may complete training all at once or in increments. The total time of completion is approximately 30 minutes. Progress is saved as you proceed through the training, so you can jump back in at any time. Of note, participants must complete the training within thirty (30) days of enrollment before access expires.
