Welcome to a space where your story matters, your growth is supported, and your well-being is the priority.
My name is Abeera Tareen (she/her) and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #154431 offering telehealth therapy sessions to individuals residing in California. I obtained my M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University, and my B.A. in Gender Studies from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
I identify as a cisgender woman. I am South Asian (Pakistani and Indian) and was born in Pakistan before moving to California at a young age. Growing up, I learned to navigate and balance the collectivistic values of my upbringing with the individualistic norms of Western society. In my clinical work, I often support clients who hold intersecting South Asian and queer identities, creating a space where they can safely explore all aspects of themselves.
I primarily work through a Humanistic lens, where you’re the expert on your own life and empathy is at the heart of our work. That said, everyone is unique, so your treatment plan should be too. Depending on your needs, I may also draw from approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Expressive Arts, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and more.
My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I’m deeply committed to creating a safe, supportive space for individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations. A significant portion of my caseload includes LGBTQIA+ clients, and I consider it a privilege to support these individuals in navigating the unique challenges and strengths that come with their lived experiences and intersections.
If you feel like we would be a good fit, please reach out via phone or email. I offer free 15 minute consultations and a sliding scale for future scheduled therapy sessions. I am excited to begin working with you!
