Alyssa Lancaster (they/them/theirs) is an assistant professor at the New England College of Optometry and provides comprehensive eye care at The Dimock Center in Roxbury. Dr. Lancaster is originally from the Chicagoland area, graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in 2021, completed residency at ICO in Ocular Disease Primary Care in 2022 and received fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry in 2022. While an optometry student, they co-founded ICO’s LGBTQIA+ optometry and ally student group “Queer Eye” and in 2023 founded PRIDE ODs, a a national LGBTQIA+ organization for optometrists, students and allies to continue advocacy work for the LGBTQ+ community in optometry. Also in 2023, they attended “Advancing Excellence in Transgender Health: A Course for the Whole Care Team” conference in Boston and actively continuously search out opportunities to provide the best and most up-to-date patient care regarding LGBTQIA+ folks.
