Amanda Townsend DNP, WHNP-BC (she/her) is an OBGYN Nurse Practitioner in Indianapolis, Indiana. After finishing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the University of Minnesota in 2018, she started her career in family planning and general gynecology care. This practice is where she grew her passion for working with LGBTQAI+ individuals. This passion has expanded to a career shift in providing direct care during gender affirming surgeries.
Her belief in meeting patients where they are at in their health care journey has allowed her to create a welcoming and trusting environment for patients who have developed a mistrust of the health care system. Using informed consent and evidence based practices, she has been able to slowly rebuild the lost trust of patients that she has served. Her approach to patient care can be described as a “friendly tour guide” on their health care journey.
