I have a master’s and PhD in counseling which include several courses of specific diversity content. As a faculty member I trained and was certified as a “Safe Place” for anyone LGBTQ+ feeling threatened or otherwise unsafe on campus (i.e. my office was available for them to retreat to). My practice welcomes LGBTQ+ clients and I regularly seek out training opportunities to insure I am up to date on best practices.
