My name is Ari (they/them). As a queer and trans human, I strive to offer an open, affirming space for you to come exactly as you are. The therapy room should be a nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable, affirmed and supported. I take a client-centered approach and believe we are each the experts of our own stories. Because of this, my therapy approach is individualized to each client’s needs. I build on CBT and DBT skills, while focusing on the person and their growth, not a “problem” that needs to be fixed. I also take a strengths-based approach helping my clients discover how they can identify their strengths and use them to help direct their own healing.
I graduated in 2016 with a Master’s in Counseling, and am currently working towards my LMHC licensure. Prior to coming to Catalyst, I provided counseling and care coordination at GenderNexus. I have a passion for helping clients explore their gender identity and sexual orientation and working with my LGBTQIA+ family. I am also practiced at writing required letters for gender affirming procedures. I find the gender-diverse community to be some of the most resilient and inspirational people I have met. The courage it takes to become one’s truest form despite the world that is against them is aspirational. I believe when we can find the congruence in our lives of who we are and who we want to become, peace will follow.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my spouse and our two young kids, and taking family vacations. I currently serve as President of the board at Nature’s Pointe Cooperative Preschool. I also take weekly dance classes as my own form of personal therapy!
