I have a PhD in counseling psychology. My approach to counseling integrates concepts from interpersonal, cognitive behavioral, relational cultural, and multicultural theories. This allows for a unique collaborative relationship with each person focused on achieving their goals, while increasing their confidence in coping and connecting with others. I strive to create a space where my clients can explore their identities as they evolve over time. This has included the privilege in joining others as they explore their gender to live an authentic and congruent life.
I have extensive experience with college and graduate students, young adults, LGBTQIA+ folx, and those who are navigating their various identities and life transitions. Gender and sexual identity development is a time in life that is full of joy and excitement. It can also come with challenges to intersecting identities. Sometimes this means that spaces that were once so protective and full of community, can become a source of pain and grief. I am here for you as you find your authenticity.
I am an active member of the LGBTQIA+ community, including supporting parasol patrol. I believe that Black Lives Matter. Further I believe that our queer community stands on the shoulders of giants, specifically our black and brown trans* siblings and the work they have done for generations to demand space they have every right to. Therapy can also be a space to process homophobia, transphobia, racism, classism, fatphobia, and many other forms of internalized messages. I am also here for those who are hoping to increase their awareness around these internalized messages. This includes finding ways to challenge, heal, and evolve beyond them.
