I have provided LGBTQ+ care for almost ten years to members of the community who identify as trans, nonbinary, queer, cis, pansexual, genderfluid, asexual, lesbian, and gay who are at all stages of life. I have made it a point to engage in LGBTQ+ CEU training every year, especially becuase I am a cis, het, woman and consider myself a strong ally. The most recent training I attended was a three day summit run by PESI that covered a spectrum of gender, sexuality, and cultural issues impacting the community today. I of course offer individual counseling, but I will also offer support through letters as needed in gender affirming medical interventions. While it is unfortunate that this requirement remains in many medical settings, I am glad to provide this level of support to any member of the community who needs it. I can offer treatment for you mental health needs through the lens of your gender and/or sexuality without making it all about those parts of yourself.
