I counsel positive coping and adaptation to grief and loss, as well as other transitions such as: divorce, job loss, and health issues. I specialize in geriatric and hospice care and have worked with older adults and their caregivers in the health field since 2006. I use an anti-racist intersectional frame. My clinical focus includes working with people who identify as LGBTQIA+. I identify as Queer and celebrate the resilience that can be found in overcoming adversity through community and connection. I’ve worked with LGBTQIA+ Veterans at the Seattle VA, where I formed an interdisciplinary team to advocate for equity in healthcare for transgender and gender diverse (TGD) Veterans. I was selected to participate in the University of Washington’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition in 2021, where I advocated for the Veteran’s Administration to provide gender-affirming care, as it is necessary and life saving for those who need it. I continue to advocate for healthcare equity for Transgender Veterans and people who are gender non-conforming.
I’ve completed the “Do Ask, Do Tell” and Transgender and Gender Diverse (TGD) training series through VA, 12/1/2020, as well as many other LGBTQIA+ trainings relevant to mental health and aging.
