My name is Christopher Boler (He/They pronouns) and I am a Resident in Counseling in Virginia. I have worked with the LGBTQ+ community in different capacities over the last six years. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Old Dominion University and completed my year long clinical practicum and internship at the LGBT Life Center in Norfolk, Virginia. My core training is in LGBTQ+ affirming counseling. Additionally, during my practicum and internship I completed a 12 week training in LGBTQ+ affirming CBT through a Centerlink and Yale initiative in 2021.
I use an integrative approach to counseling and therapy. Primarily, LGBTQ+ affirming counseling, Humanistic or Narrative therapies based on a client’s needs, concerns and goals. Clinically, I have work experience with the LGBTQ+ community, polyamorous individuals, people living with HIV, trauma counseling and other mental health concerns.
