I am Dr. Chris McClung (he/him), a board-certified urologist and fellowship-trained reconstructive surgeon at Reconstructive Surgical Arts (RSA) in Columbus, Ohio. My practice is devoted to gender-affirming surgical care for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse people. I believe every patient deserves to feel respected, heard, and comfortable discussing their body and their goals.
My path into gender-affirming care began with treating urinary and reconstructive complications in patients who had undergone bottom surgery elsewhere. Those experiences showed me how much thoughtful surgical care and ongoing support can mean to patients. They inspired me to pursue additional training in gender-affirming surgery, both in the United States and internationally. I have been performing gender-affirming surgeries since 2017.
I earned my medical degree at Jefferson Medical College, completed my urology residency at Loyola University, and completed a fellowship in trauma and reconstructive urologic surgery at the University of Washington. I subsequently served on the faculty at The Ohio State University for five years before building a practice focused exclusively on gender-affirming care.
At RSA, our surgical offerings include full-depth vaginoplasty, vulvoplasty (zero-depth vaginoplasty), orchiectomy, scrotectomy, metoidioplasty, simple-release metoidioplasty, and phalloplasty. My background in complex urologic reconstruction also informs my care of patients with complications following prior genital surgery.
My approach is calm, collaborative, and individualized. There is no single surgical path that is right for every person. I take time to understand each patient’s priorities and discuss surgical options, expected outcomes, risks, and recovery so they can make an informed decision. Respecting your identity, pronouns, privacy, and autonomy is fundamental to that relationship.
We built RSA to offer attentive, personal care and a strong sense of trust. Our team emphasizes clear communication, preparation before surgery, and continued support throughout recovery. My goal is for you to feel comfortable asking questions, confident that your concerns matter, and supported as we work together toward your goals.
