I am the director of transgender medicine and the assistant director of medical informatics for Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center dedicated to care of the underserved Latinx population in the Merrimack Valley area of north eastern Massachusetts. GLFHC is home to the nation’s first accredited Community Health Center-sponsored Family Medicine Residency, started in 1994 and designated in 2011 by HRSA as one of the nation’s first eleven Teaching Health Centers under the Affordable Care Act. Our transgender care program provides gender-affirming hormone therapy for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals as well as comprehensive primary care. I identify as an out cis-gendered gay man and use him/him/his pronouns. In addition to medical oversight of our comprehensive transgender care program, I also practice full-spectrum family medicine, including obstetric care, and supervise and train our 36 residents in LGBTQ care. Prior to going into medicine I was an IBM Distinguished Engineer, the CTO for Health Care & Industry Software Standards, and IBM’s LGBTQ Out Executive for North America.
