I primarily work with youth and young adults on issues like identity exploration, building self-esteem and efficacy, and navigating life changes. My professional aim around the goals, issues, and needs of someone seeking therapy are centered around growth, development, and navigating into the next phases of life, specifically with the skills and knowledge to make positive individual and community decisions.
My approach is grounded in humanistic approaches that center collaboration and a person’s life experiences. I believe everyone has the knowledge and capacity to make desired choices in their lives in a way that works for them – I see it as my job to help bring that ability out. As someone determined to provide supportive care to LGBTQ+ people, I try to keep the whole person in mind. I believe deeply that being able to name, explore, and talk about the nuances of our identities is what leads us to public and private joy and acceptance, not only of ourselves but our larger community. This is especially true for those, for example, who are people of color, who are low-income, disabled, or with different immigration status.
