My educational background started by being trained at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. After receiving my medical degree, I completed my psychiatry residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. For the first three years of my career I worked at St. Luke’s Hospital both as Associate Training Director and as a general outpatient psychiatrist for patients living with chronic and persistent mental illness.
My career goals have been focused on the LGBTQ population working both as president of AGLP: The Association of LGBTQ Psychiatrists and Director of Psychiatry at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, one of the largest LGBTQ Medical Centers in the world.
My work with patients is more eclectic but the core model I work with is more psychodynamic. Working with various patient populations and diagnoses have led me to be very comfortable prescribing and managing various medications. I also have a great deal of experience working with the transgender and gender non-conforming population (TGNC) conducting evaluations and writing letters for gender marker changes, hormones, and surgical procedures.
