I am a gay board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), and my personal and professional experiences strongly inform the affirming, culturally responsive care I provide. I understand how identity, minority stress, stigma, and systemic barriers can shape mental health—and how powerful it can be to feel truly seen and understood in the therapeutic space.
I work with LGBTQ+ individuals across the lifespan, including adolescents, adults, and older adults. My practice is grounded in an affirming, trauma-informed, and sex-positive approach. I strive to create a space where clients can explore identity, relationships, mental health symptoms, and life transitions without fear of judgment or pathologization.
Clinically, I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and mood-related concerns. I also have experience supporting LGBTQ+ clients navigating issues such as coming out, internalized stigma, identity exploration, relationship and family dynamics, minority stress, and the mental health impacts of discrimination. I incorporate evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT, and motivational interviewing, while tailoring treatment to each person’s values, goals, and lived experience.
I am especially committed to harm-reduction principles, autonomy, and collaborative care. This means meeting clients where they are, honoring their self-knowledge, and focusing on realistic, meaningful changes rather than rigid expectations. My style is warm, open, and validating, while becoming more solution-focused as therapy progresses.
As an LGBTQ+ provider myself, I recognize the importance of representation and shared understanding—but I also approach each client with humility and curiosity, knowing that no single experience defines the community. My goal is to offer care that is affirming, empowering, and grounded in respect, so clients can move toward greater clarity, resilience, and well-being.
I like staying up-to-date on LGBTQ+ education, most recently getting a certificate from Envision:You on Culturally Relevant and Affirming LGBTQ Behavioral Health Care 2025.
