Hi, I’m Hope! I’m a queer, Hispanic therapist (LCSWA) who identifies as pansexual and practices consensual nonmonogamy. I believe everyone deserves a space where they can show up as their whole selves, without feeling pressured to fit into a box, explain away their identity, or have everything figured out.
As both a member of the LGBTQ+ community and an affirming therapist, I understand that identity isn’t always straightforward. Maybe you’re exploring your sexuality, navigating coming out, figuring out relationships, or learning what being yourself looks like outside of other people’s expectations. Maybe you’ve known exactly who you are for years and are LOUD and proud about it! Or maybe you’re somewhere in between. Wherever you are, you deserve support that respects your experiences and gives you room to grow, explore, and even change your mind.
A little about my background
I earned my Master of Social Work from North Carolina State University and my bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, from UNC Charlotte. My background includes supporting children, families, and individuals through community-based services, advocacy, family support, and resource navigation.
I especially enjoy working with children, adolescents, emerging adults, and families. My areas of interest include identity exploration, coming out, relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, and life transitions.
My Hispanic heritage and experiences growing up in a religious environment have also shaped my understanding of how complicated the relationship between identity, culture, family, and faith can be. I recognize that these parts of our lives don’t always fit neatly together, and that exploring one doesn’t necessarily mean abandoning another. I want clients to have the freedom to explore what these experiences and identities mean to them, without judgment or assumptions.
What therapy with me looks like
My approach is warm, collaborative, individualized, and occasionally a little silly. Therapy can involve serious conversations and meaningful work without feeling formal or intimidating all the time. I welcome humor, curiosity, difficult questions, and those moments when you genuinely have no idea what to say.
I believe you’re in the driver’s seat. My job isn’t to tell you who you are or who you should become. Instead, we’ll work together to understand your experiences, recognize your strengths, challenge patterns that may no longer serve you, and develop practical tools that fit your life.
When working with LGBTQ+ children and adolescents, I value helping parents and caregivers better understand and support their children while respecting each young person’s privacy, identity, and growing autonomy. My goal is to create an environment where young people feel affirmed rather than pressured to meet someone else’s expectations.
I also recognize that being part of the LGBTQ+ community doesn’t mean I share every client’s experiences. I approach our differences with curiosity, cultural humility, and a commitment to continued learning, without expecting you to spend every session educating me about your identity.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be human. You can be uncertain, confident, frustrated, hopeful, still figuring things out, or all of those things at once. We’ll find an approach that works for you, and I’ll be there to offer encouragement, practical support, and a little humor along the way.
