I have extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults of all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, relationship structures, and abilities. My therapeutic style is informed by a holistic approach to care that aids in the promotion of long-term wholeness and healing in the mind and body. Through this holistic lens, I create a relaxed and empowering therapeutic environment, integrating the humor, honesty, and critical consciousness that is so integral to my personality inside and outside of the session room. My commitment to open-mindedness and inclusivity is influenced by my personal history existing within LGBTQIA+ communities my whole life, and ongoing investment in expanding my personal and professional knowledge with the goal on providing inclusive, affirming care. Calling on my background in Social Work, I support client’s in building greater self compassion through contextualizing how the systems in which we exist aid on our harm, and our healing.
My therapeutic orientation is trauma-informed and psychodynamic, honoring the complexities of your personal history and identities while integrating relevant interventions in service of your unique needs. I am formally trained in the use of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to manage some of those tougher challenges like self-injury, PTSD, and complex trauma through the use of emotional regulation and mindfulness practices, and with the goal of increasing self awareness and control over emotional and behavioral concerns. Additionally, I have worked closely with adolescents and adults who struggle with eating and co-occuring disorders. Drawing on my experience working in holistic residential & outpatient eating disorder treatment programs, I am equipped to work with a range of eating disorder behaviors from binging/restricting to exercise addiction. I promote a health-at-every-size perspective and advocate for radical body acceptance in all clients. To further cultivate an inclusive, client-centered environment, I often utilize my lush background in the arts to carefully integrate creative expression, writing activities, and somatic interventions to explore diverse forms of communication.
