Transgender 101: Creating a Safe Space for Public Health is for cultural awareness and understanding of the importance of incorporating gender affirming practices into the public health setting. This training will review LGBTQ terminology, population risks of the Transgender & Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) population, approaches to healthcare, and a quick overview of treatments.
This is an opportunity for public health professionals to have a safe space to consider practices in their own institutions and how to implement a more inclusive environment to promote health equity. Topics discussed will review the basics of the TGNC population and how to provide appropriate care delivery.
Target audiences include health care providers (physicians, clinical staff, nurses, medical assistants, disease investigators, etc.), office staff that may be in contact with TGNC individuals, authorities that work with diverse communities, and leaders that advocate for evidence based change in the public health setting.
