My name is Jennifer and I am a Scottish settler on Turtle Island. My lived experience has provided me with knowledge of queer & same gender relationships, substance use and addiction, mental illness and neurodivergency, family trauma and grief, both death and non death related. My learned experience allows me to work form a place of anti-racism and anti-oppression with communities that I am not a part of, such as BIPOC, transgender, and gender diverse folks.
I work from a harm reduction, sex work positive, intersectional framework and trust that those I work with know themselves and their needs.
I have recieved a diploma from the Assaulted Women and Children’s Counsellor/Advocate program at George Brown College in Toronto, and training in Peer Support through Stella’s Place and Bereaved Families of Ontario. Currently, I am in the process of certification from Peer Support Canada.
Additional training and workshops: Addiction Treatment, Clinical Skills for Healthcare Providers, Harm Reduction for VAW Counsellors and Advocates, Trauma Informed Peer Support Workshop, Good Medicine: Peer Support of People with Indigenous Heritage Workshop, Understanding Ambiguous and Non-Death Losses and more.
In addition to one on one counselling and peer support, I offer a seasonal registered support group called Queer Peers.
